Application / Dexterous Robotic Hands

Compact joint-angle feedback for dexterous robotic hands.

Finger joints in a dexterous robotic hand leave very little space for angle feedback. Cooka’s HRS12 hollow-shaft angle sensor has a 12 mm body and a 3.2 mm profile, so it can sit around the joint shaft; magnetic and custom formats are available when the joint needs a different interface.

Requirements

What the sensor has to handle

Joint packaging

Review the useful joint angle, shaft or bore interface, gearing, backlash and the space around each finger joint.

Feedback integration

Define the signal, response direction, repeatability and how the wiring passes through the moving finger.

Duty & validation

Agree joint-cycle conditions, temperature, load and the calibration checks for the proposed hand assembly.

Selection

How to choose

  1. Measure the space around each joint: diameter, depth and the shaft or bore that the sensor must fit.
  2. Define the useful joint angle and the required resolution and repeatability.
  3. Decide how wiring leaves the joint as the finger moves.
  4. Choose between the HRS12, a magnetic format or a custom part built to your drawing.
  5. Agree the joint-cycle test and calibration method, then request samples.
Buying questions

Dexterous Robotic Hands FAQ

Which Cooka sensor fits a robotic finger joint?

The HRS12 hollow-shaft angle sensor is the usual starting point: a 12 mm body and 3.2 mm profile let it sit around the joint shaft. Magnetic and custom formats are available for other joint designs.

How thin is the HRS12?

The HRS12 has a 3.2 mm profile and a 12 mm nominal body, with an alloy housing.

Can Cooka build a joint sensor to my drawing?

Yes. Send the joint drawing, angle, interface and wiring requirements for a configuration review.

What is the MOQ for Cooka sensors?

The minimum order quantity starts at 10 pieces for standard configurations; custom configurations are quoted per project.

What is the lead time?

Lead time is 3–7 days for in-stock configurations.

Are free samples available?

Yes. Cooka provides free samples for qualified projects.

Planning a dexterous robotic hands project?

Send the model, drawing or application. Cooka engineers will review the configuration with you.
